This is my birth place. From my childhood liked swimming in River Sita. Matpady is very beautiful. Some years back there was thick forest. Many tigers used to roam. People used go for wild boar hunting. It is very sad that now there is no forest around Brahmavar, Matpady and Neelavar. Bolu Gudde has become really bald withough forest. There was a island of golden sand in River Sita, from matpady to Handadi. Now it is totally disappeared for the fact that people in the area and builders completely removed the golden sand for their selfish reasons. An amazing beauty is lost. It was nothing less to a long broad golden American beach. Till today my mouth is watering when it comes to my memory of enjoying the taste of Big Crabs, Lady Fish, Tiger Prawns, Cat Fish and ofcoure Big Shevte (Maal) etc caught in the River Sita.
You can enjoy the beauty of amazing sunset from Barkur Bridge. During the rainy season it river Sita overflows and looks very dangerous.

THE "BRHAMA KALASHABISHEKA" FOR THE BRAHMALINGA VEERABARDA TEMPLE WAS PERFORMED ON 2ND MAY 2007. THE CELEBRATION WAS THERE FOR ONE WEEK. IN THIS NEW RENOVATED TEMPLE THE POSITIONS OF ALL THREE GODS ARE CHANGED AS PER THE VASTU. THE WHOLE TEMPLE WAS REBUILT USING THE STONES. A NEW WOODEN TOWER HAS BEEN INSTALLED INFRONT OF THE TEMPLE FOR THE FIRST TIME. ANOTHER MAIN ATTRACTION FOR THE TEMPLE IS NOW ONWARDS THE STATUE (REPLICA) OF VEERABARDA GOD WILL BE CARRIED IN THE CHARRIOT DURING ANUAL FESTIVAL / KARTHIKA POOJA FROM 'BADA SALIKERI TO THE TEMPLE'. DURING THE BRHAMA KALASHABISHEKA FUNCTION THE POCESSION CARRYING VEERABADRA GOD IN THE CHRIOT WAS A THRILLING EXPERINCE. THE NEW LOOK TEMPLE IS ALL SET TO CELEBRATE ITS FIRST ANNUAL FESTIVAL IN THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY NEXT YEAR.
